In the magazine rock sound, issue 114 October 2008, the Article about Fall Out Boy, I found that this article was quite humorous as they use quotes like 'I feel like, As an artist, I need to deliver a jolt of reality to people' but it also delivers facts about the band, as is a very good interview, but they base the interview as more of an essay where there is no question/answer type format, this is good as it suits the rough style of the magazine. Mine on the other hand is defiantly set out as a question and answer as I feel it makes it look more like an interview and not just a boring load of lines. But again there are some similarities for example the light jovial style in which the interview was based. Also with the colourings with this interview it is very red white and blue to show the heritage of the band, and to back up the point on the jovial side the pictures are all fun/silly pictures this is different to mine as the pictures are very serious to help prove the style of the music and to help attract the readers by looking straight down the camera, and the colour scheme I used, goes with the style of the magazine i.e. black and red.
Also in the same Rock Sound magazine there is another interview with Kids in Glass houses. This interview is a little different from the first as instantly you can see that the colour scheme is very toned down and is very dull compared to the other one. And the format of the page is very different as there is a defined question and answer style to it. but again there is a definite comedy side to it as you can see the lead singer smoking a joint and coughing it all back up and it also says 'I still think the prophets are rocking the sexy - and tom Jones is still very shaggable!' which is a definite side of humour, and the picture above the main text is them reading a piece of text and laughing. I think this extract is a lot more similar to mine than the other one as the format of the question answer is very much like mine. And also the humour starts to come through in mine also they style of question is very similar to mine ' a lot of your style is quite 80's, but is that your favourite decade.' so for this reason I will try to base my article on something similar to this.
My Article: This Is a New cutting edge band, who play electric rock, they try to mix there styles with indie and rock as they feel they bring a new kind of music to the scene!! So Guys welcome to Digital magazine, Its an honour to have you here as you are becoming a huge band! “Yea Thanks for having us we are really excited to be here.”
So Tell us about your new Album ‘Divine Inspirations’ “Well This album was inspired from a trip that we had when we went Skiing in the USA, and we heard some tracks out there that we really enjoyed so we decided to try and use that genre of music to inspire us, and create a few of the tunes on the album. And most of the album is mostly from personal experience and what we enjoy from life!”What brings you Chaps to dress the way you do, as I feel that it is different form anything I have seen before, as you Dom seem to wear University style clothing, where as Tom you see, to be more about rock clothes and things like that? “Well we have no specific look for the band so maybe that could be it for us as we seem to just wear what we like and people will interpret in what ever whey that they want, I (Dom) just wear what I feel comfortable in, and it seems to look good ha-ha, And me (Tom) just wear what ever I can , and what ever I have at the time to wash, So we don’t think we have a style, but maybe that is a style within its self ! And our style is not having a specific style!”
So have you had any Band Injuries? ‘um not really , oh Yea I have a huge cut on my leg from an excited fan , but apart from that we seem to have come off quite lightly! You Guys are both at university; does this affect your music as you are spending a lot of your time studying? “No we don’t think this effects us much as most of the time we create our music outside of uni hours, so even on the weekends we don’t make much music, and plus we don’t have many hours at uni anyway, so we get pumped when we are at uni as we are both studying music anyway so it gets us ready to create the music when we leave uni and get home.”
When you lads are at home what the thing you do to Relax is?
“Well we are both huge fans of our huge TV , so that seems to occupy most of our time, But if we are not watching that we both enjoy a lot of sports like, Skiing, Surfing, Football and Rugby!
So we are really sporty Lads!!
Who musically are your biggest inspirations?
I think that there are a lot of big bands out there who inspire us, like we enjoy people like Enter Shikari as I think They have got really catchy, upbeat and electro style of music which we love and try to incorporate into some of out songs, But there is also bands like Kiss as they were so individual for there time and I think we are so different that we can relate to some of there songs. Are you guys thinking about playing at any Festivals this year?
“Well we have both been going to festivals for a very long time so we enjoy them massively, we would be amazed if we were asked as we are a reliably new band on the scene, but it would be an honour for us to play at a big festival and a huge ambition for the band!”
Thanks for joining us today Guys!
Cheers for having us
I find that this article is very Professional as it is questions that people wish to ask, and things that people want to know. Also in comparison to what the other magazines have written I feel like mine is just as good as theirs for things like content and things like that. Also the humour side of my article helps the reader to enjoy and makes the magazine a lot easier to read. This in comparison to the rest, I think is slightly different and slightly better as it lightens up the article which makes it better for the reader
