Main Photo's

1. This photo , is used in my contents page, I used this photo because it shouws the band relaxing and chilling out which, helps to emphasise the bands style of music. Also with one of them looking into the camera and on not, this shows the attitude of each of the members as one is confident and postive whilst the other is shy and looking away from the camera. I have not done any effects to my photos as i feel they are good enough with out any effects

2, this photo is of on of the band members , he would be classified as the lead of the band as he writes and creates all of the music , i choose this photo as it shows alot about the bands style and relates well to my article, also having his instrument in his hand helps as it helps to show the style of music of the band, on this photo created it to be kind of blurry as i think this makes the picture come out of the photo alot more and creates a better look for the photo.




3. This photo i have used for the main picture on the double page spread the reeason for this is that it catches the readers attention by them looking at the camera. And again with them both having their instuments in their hands helps to reiterate the style of music that they create. also the clothes they are using goes very well with the colour schemes of the magazine , so it all goes together very well.




4. This photo is my main Front cover picture, I choose this because, with them staring down the lense it helps to grab the readers attention and makes people look at the magazine. also the colours again match with my colours used in the front cover. and throughout the magazine so it makes it look good and organised and also with the style of the magazine this goes well.


5. This phot is in my magazine next to the question about the band injurys the reason i put it there is beacuse it is one of the lads leg it goes well with the article. also it helps the reader to get a better understanding of the band and how they look and feel.

Main Task - Flat Plans

This Front cover I think is good as the direct look on the face of the band help to make them appeal to the reader more , also they are not smiling which will show you that they are not a pop star type band, when the pictures are taken , also the Headline at the top of the page will be in a digital style which goes with the theme of the magazine, And the Tag line underneath Or imbetween the picture says Stare in the eyes of sucsess whcih works as they are staring directly down the lense of the camera




This contents page is good i think as the pictures within the writing works well and creates a flow within the magazine , the Camera style pictures on the side will not be there in the magazine as I thought you the target audience would not appriciate it as it seems to be aimed for a bit more of a Pop magazine and doesnt really work with a rock mag. and again the Digital logo on the top is again the the digital font which makes it look better.





The First side of my double page spread is The first word in the band name and half of the picture in which the band will be sitting on a sofa with their instruments , this is good as it goes against the normal idea of a magazine and i have only seen it done once in the nme magazine , but it shows them relaxing and you do not normally see this side of a band , also all of the tag lines will be in the same font as the title on the front page to make it look better , and the second page is he continuation of the first as it has got the rest of the picture on it where they are on the sofa, it also has the second half of there name which again is in the Bladeline font which shows there spikey personality and it also contributes to the whole theme of the magazine as it doesnt look like a pop magazine as it is sharp and kind of agressive, also the added picture in the corner of the two pages goes well as they can blend in with the theme of the magazine as they will be pictures of his injurys that he has got from the band. These go well as they fit the normal critera and goes against all of the other pop magazines.

Main Task - FONTS

There are specific fonts that I wish to use on my front cover, contents page, the title Which will be on the front page on the top and on the title of the contents page and the title of the double page spread. This font is, Bladeline which matches the title of digital, and looks modern and chic, this will be used throughout the magazine to make it look alot sharper and better in quality. For the Font for the text I will use Times New Roman as I think this is probably the easyiest to read and the most clear for the public. this font will be used throughout the smaller print of the magazine as, it will make the magazine look neater and alot better in general. For the Bands name I will do a diffrent fon this is because I think the magazine should have a set font that it is trademarked for, so the band name should be in a diffrent font so it can be differentiated. the font I will use for the band name is Body Hunter which makes the bands name look alot more indie and better.

Main Task- Analysis of Double Page Spread

This doublle page spread form NME is good as , on the first page the picture is the main thing on it. This is a good Photo as the Band look relaxed and chilled out on the sofa, this could imply that they play more relaxed music, on the other hand though they again have a serious look on their faces which could say they are also playing more serious music, also the colours they are using are matching so the clothes that they are all wearing similar colours so this helps the picture to look smarter, also the pictures behind the band of half naked women helps to emply the theme of the band, and also the blue colour that is used on the page is carryed on to the other page so this helps the page flow from on to the other, On the other page there is a layout of four columns as the writing and pictures are placed in this way so it makes it easyier for the reader to understand and read. also the colours match the colours used on the other page, for example the blue and the black which is the same for both sides this is very good as it makes the pages look more colour co-ordinated and smarter. The three pictures on the side are all extremely serious and have them looking sad and angry this could be to show their personalitys and to get the message across their message that they are a agressive group.

Main Task - Analysis of Existing ( Contents Page )

This Contents Page for Kerrang is quite clear, as it is quite clearly using a four column layout this is because all of the pictures and the writing is in four rows this helps the audience read the page and helps to attract the readers attention. Also the eye contact in the picture helps to get the reader into the magazine. The colour Scheme of yellow and black looks good as the yellow which is bright and attractive and the black which is the the colour which is portayed throughout the magazine. The colours in the indervidual photos are mostly black and there is limited colours used to help keep the emphasise the music. The yellow also helps to get key facts to stand out and thinks they want to attract attention they can use the yellow on black to help it jump out at you. And again the faces on the photos are mostly straight faces to help show how serious they are and not jovial, the font used on this page is also similar to the font used throughout the magazine which helps to make the magazine look organised and looking neat.

Main Task - Analysis of Existing ( front Cover)

This Kerrang magazine is appealing to its reader, this is becuase there are alot of black colours this matches its rock theme as people tend to think of black colours when they think of rock and metal music. also the facial expressions of the band is very unhappy, this shows the serious faces and the seriousness of there music and it also shows the nature of their songs as they are quite deep and angry. also the colour scheme of black and white matching shows it is bland so its is purely about the music . and the red border and red sub-headings show anger, which is also helping the image of the magazine. The fonts are the same on most of the magazines and they are big, bold and clear which helps to emphasis things about the band, the layout of the page is in three so the magazine has three columns as you can see form the pictures in the bottom and from where the barcode is put. also the way the band are looking at you helps to catch the attention of the reader.








This Magazine, NME is alot brighter and more colourful, as you can see from all of the colors as it is mostly reds and blacks which stand out, this is also similar to the style of the magazine as it is quite a ' diffrent ' combination , which tells me the magazine is aiming for more of a alternative audience, and again the facial expressions are very serious and agressive, this is also to show how serious there music is and what message they are trying to get across to the audience. The layout of this magazine is quite hard to work out as it looks as if it is a 3 column layout but then at the bottom this goes wrong as there are no columns so to me it looks as if it is a two column with one big one and a smaller one. the colour scheme also helps to emphasise the act as they are wearing black clothes and are on a white back ground with red writing to make it stand out more and match the colour scheme of the logo. also the band looking at you helps to catch the readers attention when it is on the shelf.

Main Task - Target audience

My Intended magazine, is going to be based on music which is similar to the styles of NME. NME is a magazine that is primarily aimed at men aged between the ages of 17-30, the average NME reader will spend around £156 pounds on footwear per year, £532 on clothes per year, £1229 on audio equipment per year, £170 pounds on digital cameras per year and spend £66 on DVD's, 69% are male and the average age of the readers are 24 but if they were put into a bracket it would be 15-44, the Majority of this magazines readers are in the C2DE hierarchy, which means they are the normal workers like, students Etc. the readership is 369,000 and the circulation is 40,948 (http://www.ipcadvertising.com/ipc-brands/2009/feb/03/nme)

Matt Jones, my ideal reader is a 24 year old male , who enjoys the finer things in life, he enjoys consoles and spends alot of money on clothes and uses the internet alot of the time, he enjoys music and especially the rock genre. He enjoys going out with friends.

Also another magazine that is similar to the magizine that I intend to base my magazine on is , Kerrang! The readership of this magazine is that in ABC1 there are 239,000 people that read the magazine 178,000 C2DE, so this tells us that this is quite a broad magazine , ie a doctor , also this magazine, in the age group form 15-44 there are 378,000 people that read it where as in the 45+ section there are a mere 39,000 so this can also tell us that they must be targeting the market of 15-44 , as most of there sales are more for the ages between that bracket. also from this infomation you can see that 290,000 people who buy the magazine are men , and only 127,000 are women , so this can be that it is quite male and female based but more towards the male gender so this all contributes to the target audience .

So for this my ideal reader , Barry Priaulx , is a male who is around 18 , he also may not be very doing well as this is quite a cheap/easy to read magazine so it could be aimed at students who enjoy the music scene. most of the people who read this magazine enjoy music and get the magazine to find out about music so it is a very broad magazine so could be a high end doctor or could be a lower end student.

Main Coursework - Introduction

This piece of coursework, the music magazine, we have to create a Front page, a Contents Page and a double page spread on a certain genre or a certain band, For my magazine i am going to be basing it on Indie Style music, so it is going to be based on a sort of rock'n'roll / modern genre, one of the things we did to prepare ourselves for this was a college magazine http://sdcmediaasbenlee.blogspot.com/, in which we took pictures and prepared layouts that we could use.

The contents page of my magazine , I think is good because , the pictures and the wording work well with each other as they are made to seem as if they were made to be in that position , also the banner at the top matches the font and size which is on the front page to make it look smart and in sync. I think this makes the magazine look more professional and better.




My front page of my magazine has many different aspects , I think the picture on the front shows a certain swagger and confidence about the student president which is good , also the Lewes college logo is in the corner shows where we are and people relate to it . also the writing goes around the picture which make it to look as if it was made to be there . this also contributes to the look of the magazine , and finally the heading as this is the same as all of the headings all the way through the magazine to make it look professional.

In this First Photo it is Supposed to show the attitude around college and how before dom was student president people were not happy , I used this photo as it was a good way of the black of the jeans / t-shirts against the white back ground. Also I thought the look of the photo was good as it emphasised the anger within the students that Dom is not Student President also as they are looking into the camera it help to see that they are looking at the reader


In This Second photo , I used it as it shows , confidence and swagger , also it shows how he deserves to be president by the look on his face , as it sort of show I deserve it , also he is looking straight into the camera which shows he is looking at the audience , and finally the colours of yellow on the white wall is good as it makes him stand out and " jump Out "

On my Front Page , I used the tag line "Dom Thomas - yes he did " the reason I did this in this way is because the innuendo about Barack Obama, also the font I choose for this supports this as I found the font brarck used for his posters and used a similar font . also I used a picture of Dom in the front as if it was looking over his shoulder , the reason I did this is because I planned to put the writing behind him as if it was written on the wall.

For my contents page , I used one of Doms Campaign posters , with things about him surrounding it , the reason I did this is because he is the main feature of my magazine and also as it emphasis the way he won his campaign , also on my contents page I used the same font so it looked similar , and so it looked smart and well made.

Introduction

This piece of coursework will be about a magazine in which I discuss and explain things that are happening in college life, I will show on the front the new Student president and have a tag line of 'your guide to college life ' also I will have sub-headings with extracted quotes about some of his slogans and also a sub-heading about this years freshers party, this magazine , i will be aiming at people within college around the age from 16-18 .
